The United States has signed a deal to expand the production capacity of missile interceptor components.

The move comes as multiple sources have indicated that the U.S. military’s weapons stockpiles have run low because of the wars in Ukraine and Iran. Kyiv itself has run low on Patriots, a key weapon in its war with Russia due to being capable of downing ballistic missiles.

The value of the deal, which was signed with Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman, has not been disclosed. It involved components for the Patriot PAC-3 and THAAD missile interceptor systems, which are said to triple and, respectively, quadruple.

Strategically, the agreement underscores Washington‘s recognition that modern high-intensity conflicts are consuming precision-guided munitions at a pace far beyond pre-war production assumptions. By expanding manufacturing capacity for Patriot PAC-3 and THAAD interceptor components, the U.S. is seeking not only to replenish depleted inventories but also to strengthen the resilience of its defense industrial base for a prolonged period of strategic competition. The move reflects lessons drawn from sustained support for Ukraine and heightened missile threats in the Middle East, where demand for advanced air and missile defense systems has surged.
