US President Donald Trump stressed that the United States spends more money on NATO than any other country.

Posting on Truth Social on Thursday, Trump wrote, “The United States spends more money on NATO than any other country, by far, to protect them, without getting any benefit.”

He detailed defense spending of several countries from 2014 to 2025. He added, “U.S. 999 Billion Dollars, United Kingdom, 90.5 Billion Dollars, France, 66.5 Billion Dollars, Italy, 48.8 Billion Dollars, Poland, 44.3 Billion Dollars. Others, including Germany, are MUCH LOWER. (2014-2025) Ridiculous!”

Trump had previously pressed NATO members to increase their defense spending to 5% of their GDP, and did not rule out military action against the Panama Canal and Greenland.

Trump has repeatedly urged NATO members to increase their defense spending, reiterating his accusations that they were paying less than they should to protect Europe. (EIR)
