Malaysia has imposed tighter restrictions on the export, transshipment and transit of all artificial intelligence chips made in the United States.
Issuing a statement today, Malaysia’s Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry said “Effective immediately, all exports, transships and transits of high-performance AI chips of US origin are subject to a strategic trade permit”.
The move is aimed at addressing Washington’s concerns and curbing potential diversion of sensitive components to places like China.
