Washington told the Syrians that Israel does not support Druze autonomy in Syria, the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation (KAN) quoted Israeli officials as saying, adding that, it is not among Tel Aviv’s intentions. Kan stated that “the US administration is working to reach a non-aggression pact between Syria and Israel.” It added that the agreement would guarantee that Israel would not launch attacks on Syrian territory in exchange for Damascus’s pledge to guarantee the security and protection of the Druze minority within its borders. According to Kan, Washington is calling on Israel to accelerate talks with Syria to reach an agreement at the earliest.

Separately, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said, “The IDF will remain on Mount Hermon and in the security zone necessary to protect the Golan and Galilee communities from threats posed by the Syrian past as the main lesson from the events of October 7. We will also continue to protect the Druze in Syria.”
