Iranian state television said on Sunday that delegations from Iran, Qatar and the United States were holding a meeting in Switzerland to discuss a ceasefire in Lebanon and Iran’s frozen assets.
“A tripartite meeting involving Iran, the United States and Qatar on the subjects of a comprehensive ceasefire in Lebanon and Iran’s blocked assets is currently being held at the negotiation venue,” state broadcaster IRIB said in a report.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir arrived in Switzerland on Sunday, where they will continue to lead mediation efforts in the planned talks between the United States and Iran, according to a X post by the Pakistani Foreign Ministry.
US Vice President JD Vance and Iran’s chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, will participate in the talks aimed at permanently ending the war in the Middle East, based on the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides.
