US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Monday that two US-flagged commercial vessels successfully transited through the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement on X, CENTCOM said, “U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyers are currently operating in the Arabian Gulf after transiting the Strait of Hormuz in support of Project Freedom.”

“American forces are actively assisting efforts to restore transit for commercial shipping. As a first step, 2 U.S.-flagged merchant vessels have successfully transited through the Strait of Hormuz and are safely headed on their journey,” it added.

Meanwhile, Iranian media reported that two missiles struck a US Navy frigate attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz, a claim CENTCOM immediately refuted.

Earlier, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards said the management of the Strait of Hormuz was intact under the IRGC Navy and IRGC protocols in the strait have not changed. It warned to forcibly stop non-compliant vessels.

The IRGC statement came following US President Donald Trump’s launch of “Project Freedom” to help guide ships out of the strait. (EIR)
