Iranian Revolutionary Guards spokesperson Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi said the management of the Strait of Hormuz was intact under the IRGC Navy and IRGC protocols in the strait have not changed.

The IRGC statement comes as US President Donald Trump announced ‘Project Freedom’ to help guide vessels out of the strait starting Monday.

In a statement carried by Fars News Agency on Monday, Mohebbi warned that maritime activities contradicting the declared principles of the IRGC Navy will face serious risks. “Violating vessels will be stopped with force,” he added.

He emphasized that all shipping companies and transportation insurance firms pay attention to the announcements of the IRGC. “Any maritime movement of civilian and commercial vessels that complies with the transit protocols issued by the IRGC Navy and is conducted along the specified route with coordination will be secure and safe.”

Meanwhile, the IRGC Navy announced a new control zone in the Strait of Hormuz, extending from the south of the line between Mount Mobarak in Iran and south of Fujairah in the UAE and from the west of the line between the end of Qeshm Island in Iran and Umm Al Quwain in the UAE.

Ealier, Trump said that “very positive discussions” were underway with Iran on finding a solution to the war, but nevertheless added US forces will soon start escorting ships out of the blocked Strait of Hormuz. On Truth Social, he said, “This process, Project Freedom, will begin Monday morning, Middle East time.”

He called it a “humanitarian gesture,” saying many of the marooned ships were “running low on food, and everything else necessary for largescale crews to stay on board in a healthy and sanitary manner.” (EIR)
