The US military announced on Monday the end of a new wave of offensive strikes, hitting “dozens of targets at multiple locations” in Iran for the second consecutive day, affirming its readiness to ensure continued freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. This comes as Iran announced new attacks targeting US military bases and sites in several Gulf states and Jordan.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that it targeted air defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats, using fighter jets, warships, and attack drones as well as “one-way attack sea drones for the first time.”
In response, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard claimed responsibility for attacks targeting Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan, a US drone command center in Bahrain, Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, and US military installations in Oman and Bahrain.
“In addition to targeting US military facilities and infrastructure in Juffair, Bahrain, where fires are raging, the navy of the Revolutionary Guards has… targeted and destroyed the long-range airborne FPS radar and the ship-detection radar in the Sultanate of Oman,” said a statement from the Guards carried by their Sepah news outlet.
Following the attacks, the Kuwaiti military said it was responding to “hostile aerial targets” within its airspace, while the Jordanian military confirmed its air defenses intercepted and shot down four missiles launched from Iran after they entered Jordanian airspace, with no reported casualties or material damage.
In Bahrain, the Ministry of Interior sounded air raid sirens and urged citizens and residents to seek shelter and follow official instructions, as the kingdom was subjected to attacks linked to the targeting of US interests in the Gulf.
Meanwhile, Iranian state media reported that one person was killed and four others were injured in US strikes targeting areas in Khuzestan province in southwestern Iran, according to the province’s deputy governor for security and law enforcement. (AFP/EIR)
