Center-left candidate Antonio Jose Seguro has won Portugal’s presidential election by a comfortable margin in Sunday’s second-round run-off against far-right rival Andre Ventura, near-complete results showed.

With 95 percent of the votes counted, Seguro, 63, had won 66 percent of the vote to 43-year-old Ventura’s 34 percent, and so will succeed conservative Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa in the post. (AFP)
