The gunman, who was arrested after attempting to storm the White House Correspondents’ Dinner attended by President Donald Trump, intended to target senior administration officials, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said Sunday.
“Based upon just a very preliminary start to understanding what happened, that he was targeting members of the administration,” Blanche told CBS News. He added the gunman is not actively cooperating and likely traveled to Washington by train from Los Angeles via Chicago.
Meanwhile, Trump wrote on Truth Social, “This event would never have happened with the Militarily Top Secret Ballroom currently under construction at the White House. It cannot be built fast enough!”
He added, “Nothing should be allowed to interfere with its construction,” referring to a lawsuit related to the ballroom. (EIR)
