Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said that the talks held between Iran and Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz in Tehran on Friday and Saturday were productive and progress had been made, adding that navigation mechanism in the strait has not changed.

Baghhaei said on Sunday, “Several rounds of talks were held between Iran and the Sultanate of Oman at the level of deputy foreign ministers in Tehran on Friday and Saturday. The two sides exchanged views on common principles and operational mechanisms for managing safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz while respecting the sovereign rights of the two coastal states.”

Baghhaei suggested that these talks were making good progress, saying, “The Omani delegation left Tehran on Saturday evening, but technical and political consultations between the two sides are ongoing.”

He added, “There has been no change to navigation in the strait.” (EIR)
