Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky disclosed that Kyiv is on track to build a European anti-ballistic air defense system, adding that, “Our domestic production in Ukraine enables us to shoot down drones and many other targets, but we cannot shoot down ballistic missiles.”

On X earlier, he wrote, “President Trump approved granting Ukraine licenses for Patriot missile production.”

He also announced Monday that Russia’s energy infrastructure was targeted in the latest Ukrainian offensive, a day after Russia launched an attack on Kyiv and other areas in Ukraine.

He said on X, “Last night, our long-range sanctions were effective in the Rostov region. An export terminal approximately 250 kilometers from the front line was hit. Deep strikes also targeted oil facilities in the Yaroslavl region and the Udmurt Republic.”

On the other hand, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense systems had destroyed five guided bombs and 498 Ukrainian drones, and had shot down more than 190,000 Ukrainian drones since the start of the special military operation.

In its press briefing, the ministry indicated that Ukrainian forces had suffered approximately 1,435 casualties in areas of the operation.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov asserted that reports of a possible discussion between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his American counterpart, Donald Trump, regarding a no-fly zone in Ukraine were merely media speculation.

He stated that Russian merchant ships operating in international waters would not be armed, but that the Russian Navy might take measures to protect them.

He also declined to comment on Zelensky’s claims that Russia was considering the possibility of North Korean forces participating in the special military operation. (EIR)
