Russia said Thursday it would be ramping up the “pressure” on Ukraine after launching its largest ever attack on Kyiv overnight, firing waves of drones and missiles that killed 13.
“Russia will continue to increase pressure on the Kyiv regime in order to achieve our set goals,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, when asked about the EU saying it would look at new sanctions on Moscow over the latest strikes.
Meanwhile, the death toll from a Russian drone and missile strike on Kyiv early Thursday has risen to 17 people, Ukraine’s state emergency service said.
“The death toll in Kyiv has increased to 17 people! Emergency and rescue operations continue at the site of the Russian strike,” it said in a post on Telegram.
Kyiv’s mayor said the overnight Russian attack on Kyiv was the biggest ever unleashed in Moscow‘s more than four-year-long invasion.
“Tomorrow, July 3, is declared a Day of Mourning in Kyiv, in memory of the victims of the enemy’s most massive attack on the capital,” Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on social media, as rescuers were still sifting through the rubble of a destroyed apartment building. (AFP)
