German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said Monday that after the United States and Europe discussed steps toward a Ukraine peace, “the next step must be: Russia must come to the table“.
“And if this is possible, then every effort will have been worthwhile,” he said, speaking on the sidelines of an international summit in Angola.
Merz stressed that discussions are “a lengthy, long-lasting process” and added, “I don’t expect a breakthrough this week.” (AFP)
