Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the United States’ return to its old plans, after issuing military threats and claiming it would launch attacks and strikes, shows that it has become helpless in the face of the Iranian people and has no new solutions.
According to the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA), he added that “the economic war waged by U.S. President Donald Trump is nothing more than a repeated scenario of American bullying.”
The agency quoted Araghchi as saying that “the economic war is a repeated scenario, and this bullying is the same approach we have become accustomed to in U.S. policy. We have seen this film many times, and we know how to confront it.”
Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Thursday accused the United States of engaging in “economic terrorism,” after U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent threatened to tighten economic sanctions on Iran “to push this regime toward collapse.”
Bessent is due to hold a press conference on Monday on the mechanism the United States intends to use to intensify pressure on Tehran, nearly six months after the start of the war sparked by Israeli-U.S. strikes against Iran. (EIR)
