Russia Says Ukraine Hit LNG Tanker off Libya with Naval Drones
Share:

Moscow has accused Kyiv of hitting an LNG tanker off the coast of Libya in a naval drone attack in the early hours of Tuesday, saying all 30 crew members had been rescued.

The attack on the tanker, Arctic Metagaz, “was launched from the Libyan coast by Ukrainian naval drones,” Russia’s transport ministry said, adding that the vessel was loaded and on route from the northern Russian port of Murmansk.

Libyan authorities said Wednesday the tanker had sunk in the Mediterranean Sea between the North African country and Malta after issuing a distress call late on Tuesday following “sudden explosions”. (AFP)
