The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior made public new details on Tuesday in a case of the arrest of four infiltrators who attempted to enter the country by sea several days ago. Investigations reveal the group’s ties to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC).
In a report carried by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the ministry identified the four infiltrators as Naval Colonel Amir Hossein Abdolmohammad Zaraei, Naval Colonel Abdolsamad Yedaleh Kanavati, Naval Captain Ahmad Jamshid Ghalem Reza Zolfaghari, and First Lieutenant Mohammad Hossein Sohrab Foroughi Rad.
The report said that the detainees confessed that the IRGC tasked them with infiltrating Boubyan Island on May 1st from a fishing boat to carry out hostile acts against the State of Kuwait.
The report said that one member of Kuwaiti Armed Forces stationed on Boubyan Island, was wounded as they exchanged fire with infiltrators. Two member sof the infiltrating group, Naval Captain Mansour Qambari and the boat’s captain Abdulali Kazem Siamri, fled.
The Ministry of Interior confirmed that the necessary legal measures were being taken in accordance with established procedures. It emphasized the readiness of its various sectors, in cooperation with the relevant security authorities and the Kuwaiti Armed Forces, to confront any attempts or plots targeting the security and stability of the state.
On May 3, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Saud Abdulaziz Al-Atwan, announced that the Kuwaiti Armed Forces had thwarted a maritime infiltration attempt through territorial waters. Four infiltrators attempting to enter the country were apprehended and referred to the relevant authorities. (EIR)
