Iran’s Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani announced the deployment of domestically built light submarines in the Strait of Hormuz to monitor and engage hostile vessels.
In a statement, Irani said, “Iran’s domestically built light submarines—known as dolphins of the Persian Gulf—are being deployed and expanded in the Strait of Hormuz based on threats, capabilities, and operational needs, remaining on alert and ready for action.”
The statement added, “These light submarines can ‘bottom-sit’ on the seabed for long periods in the strategic waters of the Strait of Hormuz to track and neutralize enemy ships.”
Irani said, “To demonstrate Iran’s maritime deterrence, these submarines surfaced during an operation dedicated to the martyrs of the Dena destroyer in the Strait of Hormuz. After carrying out formation maneuvers, they submerged again to continue their missions.”
Similarly, Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, declared that the period of restraint has ended as of today, threatening that “any aggression against our vessels will be met with a heavy and decisive Iranian response against American vessels and bases.”
In a post on X, Rezaei said that time is running out for American interests, adding, “It is to their benefit not to act foolishly and sink themselves deeper into the quagmire they have fallen into.”
Suggesting the best course for the United States is to surrender and concede concessions, he said, “You must get used to the new regional order.” (EIR)
