Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine had hit two oil refineries in Russia in long-range strikes.
On X, he said, “The Slavyansk oil refinery in the Krasnodar region was hit – about 300 kilometers from the frontline. We also reached a refinery in the Yaroslavl region, approximately 700 kilometers from our border.”
He added, “We continue our operations that weaken Russia’s ability to wage this war. Each of our long-range sanctions means fewer resources serving Russia’s war machine, and another step toward peace.”
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian drone strike killed one person and wounded another in southern Russia and caused a fire in a refinery, the Russian authorities said on Sunday.
Krasnodar regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev said several houses were also damaged by falling debris.
“Krasnodar region came under a massive enemy drone attack… Sadly, one person was killed,” Kondratyev said in a post on Telegram, adding that “one person was wounded and received the necessary assistance on site”.
He said that a “fire also broke out at an oil refinery in the city, and a power line and gas pipe were damaged”. (EIR/AFP)
