Russian media reported that Ukrainian forces launched more than 100 drone strikes on Moscow and its surrounding areas between May 11 and 17, marking the largest such attack on the Russian capital since the start of the conflict.
Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik, in his weekly report, said that the strikes targeted civilian infrastructure in the capital and its suburbs, hitting densely populated residential areas and urban centers, resulting in civilian casualties.
The attacks were not limited to the capital and extended to the cities of Ryazan, Belgorod, and Shakhtarsk, causing casualties, including children, and significant material damage to infrastructure in populated areas.
This comes amidst the ongoing escalation along the front lines, despite international mediation efforts aimed at reaching a diplomatic settlement to the conflict.
Ukrainian forces are targeting civilian energy infrastructure with drones and missiles on a near-daily basis in the Russian border regions of Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Voronezh, Rostov Oblasts and Crimea.
The Russian military continues to counter the Ukrainian drone attacks and is advancing on all fronts, improving the situation along the entire front. (EIR)
