British media reported on Wednesday that the British Deputy Ambassador to the United States, James Roscoe, has suddenly left his post.

BBC said British Foreign Office officials declined to provide any explanation for Roscoe’s departure.

Roscoe had held one of the most senior and prominent positions in the British diplomatic service, serving as the second-in-command at the British Embassy in Washington.

He also filled in for Lord Peter Mandelson after the latter’s dismissal last year and was among the candidates for position before it was given to Christian Turner.

Roscoe had played a key role in US President Donald Trump’s state visit to the UK, as well as in King Charles III‘s recent visit to the United States.

The British Embassy declined to divulge further information about his departure, according to the broadcasting corporation. EIR
