The UAE’s State Security Service announced the crackdown of a terrorist organization and the arrest of its members for their involvement in systematic terrorist and sabotage operations aimed at destabilizing the country. The authority’s investigations showed that the organization’s members had ties to the “Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist” (Velayat-e Faqih) in Iran.
UAE’s official news agency WAM reported that investigations showed the organization’s members adopted extremist terrorist ideologies and ideas that threatened internal security. They conducted recruitment and indoctrination operations secretly in coordination with external entities to infiltrate sensitive locations.
WAM quoted the State Security Service as saying that the organization’s members held secret meetings inside and outside the country with terrorist elements and suspicious organizations.
They intended to spread misleading ideas among Emirati youth to recruit them to serve foreign interests and incite them against the country’s foreign and internal policies. They also collected funds illegally and transferred them to suspicious foreign entities.
The authority confirmed that the charges against the organization’s members include establishing and running a secret organization within the country, signing pledges of allegiance to foreign entities, and harming national security and social harmony. (EIR)
