US President Donald Trump has warned that the United States will bomb and destroy either a bridge or a power plant every time Iran shoots at a ship in the Strait of Hormuz.
Posting On Truth Social Wednesday, he wrote, “From this point forward, any time the Islamic Republic of Iran shoots at a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, whether it be by Missile, Rocket, Drone, or any other device or weapon, the United States will bomb and destroy ONE BRIDGE OR POWER PLANT, including those located next to, or in, the Capital City of Tehran.”
Meanwhile, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced that it had targeted the Prince Hassan and King Faisal airbases in Jordan, hours after the Jordanian army announced it had intercepted several missiles and drones launched from Iran, marking the latest escalation in the ongoing military confrontation between Tehran and Washington.
In another development, the Iranian news agency Tasnim reported a US missile strike on the island of Larak in the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday afternoon, saying residents heard a loud explosion there.
“At 2:48 pm, the island of Larak was targeted by an American missile,” Tasnim said. “The competent authorities are currently carrying out an investigation to determine the scale of the attack, the exact point of impact and the extent of the potential damage.”
In Bahrain, sirens sounded in Manama following an explosion as Iranian attacks targeted the kingdom in retaliation for the US strikes against Iran.
The Bahraini Ministry of Interior stated in a post on its X platform that “the siren has sounded. We urge citizens and residents to remain calm, head to the nearest safe place, and follow the news through official channels.”
The ongoing military escalation has raised growing concerns about maritime security and energy supplies, impacting global markets. Oil prices surged, surpassing $95 a barrel for the first time in nearly six weeks.
Brent crude for September delivery rose 4.41% to $95.02 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate crude for the same month climbed 4.53% to $88.16 a barrel, amid fears of a prolonged disruption to oil exports from the Middle East. (AFP/EIR)
