The Jordanian Armed Forces announced on Thursday that they had intercepted and downed eight missiles launched from Iran toward Jordanian territory.
They confirmed that the interceptions resulted in debris falling on the ground, but no casualties or material damage were reported.
The Armed Forces said they are operating at the highest level of readiness to protect the Kingdom’s airspace and defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Jordanian government said the sounding of air raid sirens across the Kingdom was a result of the violation of Jordanian airspace by missiles launched from Iran. It confirmed that the Armed Forces successfully dealt with the situation and remain prepared to confront any threat.
In Kuwait, the Ministry of Defense announced that debris from the interception of the Iranian attacks caused material damage in several locations, in addition to injuring one person who is undergoing treatment. The ministry said that the injured person’s condition is stable.
This comes amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, after Tehran targeted bases and sites linked to Washington in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar, threatening to expand its response if the US strikes are repeated.
Meanwhile, Iranian media reported hearing explosions in Bushehr province, home to Iran’s only civilian nuclear power plant, hours after the United States launched strikes on Iranian sites.
State media quoted an Iranian official as saying that a US strike targeted the vicinity of the Bushehr nuclear facility, while Iranian authorities have yet to release official details regarding the extent of the damage or the nature of the attack. (AFP/EIR)
