An advisor to Iran’s supreme leader on Wednesday warned of more missile and drone strikes should the United States renew its attacks on Iran.

“Every shot fired and every attack will be met with a deluge of missiles and drones,” Mohsen Rezaei posted on X, adding that “the aggressor will swiftly be punished”.

The warning followed US strikes on an Iranian tanker and on Iran’s Qeshm Island, sparking retaliatory attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said one person was killed and several others wounded in Iranian ballistic missiles and drone attacks on “civilian and vital facilities, including diplomatic missions.” This comes hours after Iranian attacks caused damage and disruptions at Kuwait International Airport.

In a statement, the Kuwaiti ministry condemned “blatant Iranian acts of aggression carried out using ballistic missiles and drones, the latest of which occurred at dawn.”

The ministry reiterated Kuwait’s categorical rejection of Iranian aggression that contributes to further escalation, heightens regional tensions, undermines security and stability, and constitutes a flagrant violation of international law, the United Nations Charter, and UN Security Council Resolution 2817.

The statement stressed that Kuwait’s security, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens and residents are a “red line” that cannot be compromised, emphasizing that the repeated attacks reflect a systematic, aggressive approach that Kuwait will neither accept nor tolerate.

The statement further affirmed that Kuwait reserves its full and inherent right to take appropriate measures in response to the repeated Iranian attacks, in accordance with international law.

Earlier, Iran accused Kuwait and Bahrain of allowing the United States to use their territory to launch attacks on an Iranian tanker and island, as it condemned Washington for the strikes.

“Iran condemns the colonialist use by the United States of the territory and infrastructure of countries in the region to advance its aggressive plans against Iran, and emphasizes the direct and unmistakable responsibility of the leaders of Kuwait and Bahrain for last night’s acts of aggression,” an Iranian Foreign Ministry statement said.

The US military announced Tuesday night that it had launched a missile at an oil tanker attempting to sail toward an Iranian port in violation of the US embargo. It confirmed thwarting Iranian missile and drone attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain, and launching strikes on an Iranian “military ground control station” on Qeshm Island. (EIR/AFP)
