Hezbollah: Israeli Threats Won’t Make Us Disarm

Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem today said that Israeli threats will not make the group “surrender” or disarm. His remarks come amid the ongoing US pressure on Hezbollah to lay down its weapons.
During a televised speech commemorating Ashura, Shiite Islam’s most sacred religious ritual, Qassem said, “These threats will not lead us to surrender. We are not told to soften our positions. It is the aggression that must stop. We are not told to give up our weapons.”
He added, “The continued existence of Israel is the real crisis.”
