US President Donald Trump on Monday did not rule out the possibility of extending his Asia trip to meet Kim Jong Un, saying he “would love to” speak with the North Korean leader.
Speaking to journalists aboard Air Force One, Trump expressed openness to prolonging his trip. His next stop is Tokyo, where he will stay until Tuesday after visiting Malaysia on Sunday. He will then leave Tokyo for South Korea on Wednesday.
Separately, a senior aide to the South Korean president ruled out the possibility of a meeting between Trump and Kim during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in South Korea this week. The third deputy national security adviser, Oh Hyun-joo, said the meeting was “very unlikely.” (Agencies)
