Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday he will not compromise the interests of Indian farmers, even if that meant paying a personal price. His remarks came after US President Donald Trump imposed a 50% tariff on Indian goods. Modi said, “Our farmers’ welfare is our top priority. India will never compromise the wellbeing of its farmers, dairy (sector) and fishermen. And I know personally I will have to pay a heavy price for it,” adding that he is ready for it.
