Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday that Russia fears a repeat of the Gaza crisis and has called on all concerned countries to prevent such a scenario.

Noting that Trump’s plan for Gaza is the best option currently on the table, he pointed out that it does not solve the broader Palestinian issue.

In a meeting with media representatives from Arab countries, Lavrov said, “We sincerely hope for the success of today’s summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, which, as far as I know, includes more than twenty countries from the Arab world and a number of Western countries.”

He expressed Russia’s hope for the success of the summit taking place in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, in reaching a resolution on the Gaza Strip.

He added that the Russian-Arab summit, which was postponed due to developments in the Gaza Strip, will be held as soon as new dates are agreed upon.
