Irregular arrivals in the European Union dropped by more than a quarter last year to reach the lowest level since 2021, the bloc’s border agency said on Thursday.

“Recording of irregular crossings of the EU’s external borders decreased by more than a quarter (26%) in 2025, to reach nearly 178,000,” the Frontex agency said in a statement, adding it was “the lowest level since 2021” and less than half of the numbers recorded for 2023. (AFP)
