The United States is offering Ukraine “strong” security guarantees for an extendable period of 15 years but Kyiv wants a longer period, President Volodymyr Zelensky said a day after talks with President Donald Trump on ending the war with Russia.
“I told him (Trump) that we already have a war going on and it has been going on for almost 15 years. And so I really wanted the guarantees to be longer,” Zelensky told journalists.
“I told him that we really want to consider the possibility of 30, 40, 50 years,” he added. “The president said he would think about it.” (AFP)
