US President Donald Trump said that the war with Iran may be over in two or three weeks and it will be up to other countries to secure the vital Strait of Hormuz oil shipping channel.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, the US president said the United States would be leaving Iran “very soon,” perhaps within “two weeks, maybe three.” “But we’re finishing the job,” he insisted.
Meanwhile, the White House announced that Trump would give an address to the nation at 9:00 pm EST on Wednesday “to provide an important update on Iran.”
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the United States “is going to have to reexamine” its relationship with NATO once the war against Iran has concluded.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards warned that they would target leading US technology firms like Apple, Google and Meta if more Iranian leaders were killed in “targeted assassinations”.
In Israel, the Israeli army reported Wednesday that its air defenses were intercepting missiles launched from Iran after sirens sounded. The military added that they carried out strikes on Tehran, where Iranian state broadcaster IRIB reported blasts in several areas.
On Lebanon front, the Israeli army said it had “struck a senior commander” and another “terrorist” from Hezbollah in two separate strikes in Beirut. (AFP)
