US President Donald Trump signed a presidential memorandum reinstating sanctions and restrictions previously imposed on Cuba along with a ban on American tourism to the country. The memorandum also redesignates Cuba as a major state sponsor of terrorism.
The White House stated, “The directive will impose a legal ban on American tourism to Cuba while supporting the country’s economic embargo.”
It added that the new memorandum enforces a legal ban on US tourism to Cuba and ensures compliance through routine audits and mandatory registration of all travel-related transactions for at least five years.
