US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he had ordered the Pentagon to resume nuclear weapons testing, a move that has reignited fears of a new arms race.

The announcement, made on his Truth Social account, coincided with his visit to Asia amid ongoing military and economic developments in the region.

Trump also authorized South Korea to develop a nuclear-powered submarine, amid escalating tensions with Russia and China over nuclear tests and competition in the deep sea.
