The Russian port of Primorsk near the Finnish border suffered damage in the latest round of drone attacks, the region’s governor said early Monday on Telegram.

“A fuel tank was damaged in the port of Primorsk, causing a fire. Firefighters are working to extinguish the fire, and personnel have been evacuated,” said Alexander Drozdenko, governor of Russia’s western Leningrad region.

Drozdenko said Russian air defense and electronic warfare systems have destroyed 35 UAVs since the attack began over the Leningrad region, which has not been a main front in Russia’s war with Ukraine.

In a later Telegram message, he updated the figure to “more than 50 drones” destroyed and said there were continuing efforts to repel the attack. (AFP)
