Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that Israel ended the war in a way that ensured Hamas’s disarmament and that Gaza would no longer pose a threat to his country.
Addressing the Knesset, he said, “Israel destroyed Iran’s nuclear weapons, rolled back its missile program, and achieved victories, but the price was high.”
He added, “Trump’s peace proposal, accepted by the countries of the world, ended the war and achieved all our goals.” Addressing Trump, he said, “You are committed to this peace; I am committed to this peace. Together, Mr. President, we will achieve this peace.”
Netanyahu said the coming years would be years of peace both inside and outside Israel, extending a hand of peace to all who seek peace with his country.
He pointed out that all the leaders of the October 7 attack, including Ismail Haniyeh and Yahya Sinwar, had been killed.
Netanyahu thanked the US president for his decisive role in returning the hostages and for recognizing Israel’s historical rights in the West Bank. “Donald Trump is the greatest friend that the State of Israel has ever had in the White House,” he said. “No American president has ever done more for Israel.” (Agencies)
