A Palestinian civilian was killed on the outskirts of the Emirati capital Abu Dhabi when a missile hit their car on Monday, authorities said, as Iran pressed on with strikes on the Gulf following US-Israeli attacks.
“UAE air defenses are currently responding to incoming missile and drone threats from Iran,” the UAE Ministry of Defense posted on X.
Flights have been temporarily suspended at Dubai’s international airport for safety reasons, the city’s aviation authority said, shortly after a drone incident sparked a fire nearby.
A drone attack also targeted oil infrastructure on the UAE’s east coast, causing a fire, according to local authorities.
“A large fire broke out in the Fujairah Oil Industries Zone as a result of being targeted by a drone, with no injuries reported,” Fujairah Media Office said.
In Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom intercepted more than 60 drones over its territory last night, according to figures released by the Ministry of Defense. The ministry in separate posts on X stated that all of these drones were intercepted in the east of the country.
For its part, Qatar emphasized today that diplomacy with Iran will only be possible if it “stops its attacks” on Doha and other Gulf states.
