Hamas stated today that Israel seeks to “prolong military control” of Gaza for the long term. Hamas said Israel has yet to submit a roadmap outlining its withdrawal from the Gaza Strip in the ongoing ceasefire negotiations being held in Doha.

Bassem Naim, a member of the Hamas political bureau, said, “The Israeli claim about submitting new maps is not true.” He added, “What is happening on the ground confirms Israel’s intentions and plans to maintain and prolong military control inside the Gaza Strip and to avoid ending the war.”

Hamas’s statement comes as Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani is set to brief US President on the progress of the Gaza ceasefire talks scheduled to continue in Washington later today.
