United Nations investigators said on Tuesday they had determined that Israel has since October 2023 committed “genocide” in Gaza, with the “intent to destroy the Palestinians” in the territory. “We came to the conclusion that genocide is occurring in Gaza and is continuing to occur, and the responsibility lies with the State of Israel,” said Navi Pillay, head of the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry’s report “concludes that Israeli President Isaac Herzog, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and then Defense Minister Yoav Gallant have incited the commission of genocide and that Israeli authorities have failed to take action against them to punish this incitement.” (AFP)
