Britain, Canada, and Australia announced on Sunday their official recognition of the State of Palestine, reaffirming their commitment to preserving the two-state solution.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in a video message posted on his X account, “Today, to revive hope for peace between Palestinians and Israelis and to advance a two-state solution, the United Kingdom formally recognizes the State of Palestine.”

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stated, “Canada recognizes the State of Palestine and offers our partnership in building the promise of a peaceful future for both the State of Palestine and the State of Israel. Canada does so as part of a coordinated international effort to preserve the possibility of a two-state solution.”

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese declared, “With this decision, Australia recognizes the legitimate and long-standing aspirations of the Palestinian people to establish their own state.” He added that his country has joined major Western nations in intensifying pressure on Israel to halt the war in Gaza.
