Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich declared that Israel’s security “is not achieved through political agreements, commitments, guarantees, or changing governments.” His remarks came ahead of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House.

On X, Smotrich outlined red lines he had conveyed to Netanyahu: a full withdrawal of Hamas from Gaza, no role for the Palestinian Authority, and no reference to a Palestinian state that he said would endanger Israel.

He added that Qatar would have no role in Gaza, which “will no longer be a prison.” Instead, those wishing to leave would be able to exit via Egypt and resettle elsewhere.
