A second day of Russia-Ukraine-US talks in Geneva on ending the war in Ukraine concluded after around two hours, Kyiv and Moscow said Wednesday.

Both sides reported negotiations had ended, with Russian state media reporting — citing Moscow’s chief negotiator Vladimir Medinsky — that more talks were due in the “near future”.

“They were difficult, but business-like. The next meeting will take place in the near future,” Medinsky told state media reporters after the talks in Geneva, without elaborating.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Wednesday that talks were “difficult”, and accused the Russian team of delaying the process.

“Yesterday’s meetings were indeed difficult, and we can state that Russia is trying to drag out negotiations that could already have reached the final stage,” Zelensky said on social media after being briefed by his team ahead of a second day of talks in Geneva.

He said Europe’s participation at talks in Geneva with US and Russian delegations was vital for any agreements reached on halting the war. (AFP)
