Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that the belief that Ukraine can achieve victory on the battlefield is a great illusion.
Addressing a regular press briefing on Monday, Peskov clarified that the Kremlin was not aware of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s initiatives to regulate the Ukrainian conflict.
Anticipating Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s planned visit to Russia, he appreciated Astana’s willingness to contribute to the settlement process in Ukraine.
Regarding the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, Peskov reiterated Moscow’s openness to a political and diplomatic solution. He continued that the belief about Ukraine’s ability to win on the battlefield is a profound misconception, “to which the Kiev regime can and is committed”.
He also noted that negotiations on Ukraine have stalled because the Europeans are convincing Kyiv that it can win by military means.” The situation on the fronts “is dynamic and speaks eloquently about the prospects” of the Kiev regime, which will deteriorate “day by day”, he added.
The Kremlin spokesperson also briefed on the Russian president’s visit to India before the end of the year. (Agencies)
