Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Monday that reports alleging Russia is planning to restore Soviet-era spheres of influence are false.

He told reporters that Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev would brief President Vladimir Putin on the results of talks with the United States held in Miami upon his return to Moscow.

Noting that heads of state have busy schedules, Peskov said the Kremlin understands Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s decision not to attend the CIS summit in St. Petersburg.

He added that Putin plans to hold a bilateral meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in St. Petersburg. (Agencies)
