Speaking for the first time following US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth called the strikes “incredible and overwhelming success.” He added that planning for the attacks “took months and weeks of positioning and preparation.”
Speaking at a press conference held at the Pentagon today, he said the strikes have eliminated Iran’s nuclear ambitions without targeting Iranian forces or civilians.
“The operation, planned by President Trump, was bold and showed the world that American deterrence is back.” He added Iran should listen to the President when he speaks. The Secretary of Defense confirmed initial assessments that indicate all ordnance were precise and achieved the desired impact.
He emphasized that the United States believes it destroyed or degraded capabilities at the Fordo facility, which was a primary target. On his part, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Caine, confirmed that more than 125 American military aircraft took part in the largest B-2 operational strike in U.S. history.
He said, “The United States used B-2 bombers and submarine-launched missiles to strike Iranian facilities.” He explained that Operation ‘Hammer’, against Iran’s nuclear facilities, was complex and aimed at weakening Iran’s nuclear program.
