US President Donald Trump said that the military had successfully destroyed many long-sought-after targets, declaring, “A big day in Iran.”
“I think we’ll make a deal with them, pretty sure…but we’ve had regime change,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, citing the number of Iranian leaders killed in the month-long war. “We’re dealing with different people than anybody’s dealt with before. It’s a whole different group of people. So, I would consider that regime change,” Trump said.
He added that Iran had agreed to allow 20 ships carrying oil through the Strait of Hormuz starting Monday morning and continuing over the next few days. In an interview with the Financial Times, the US president suggested that he could take Iran’s Kharg Island “very easily.”
Meanwhile, the Israeli army said on Monday morning that it was striking Iranian military infrastructure across the Islamic Republic’s capital and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said that Iran’s heavy water production plant in Khondab was no longer operational after an Israeli military strike.
Israel’s parliament also approved the 2026 budget early Monday, providing for a significant increase in military spending as the country remains engaged in wars on multiple fronts. The proposed total expenditure budget for 2026 amounts to approximately 850 billion Israeli shekels (NIS) or $270 billion.
Likewise, an Iranian strike on a power station in Kuwait killed one Indian worker and damaged a building at the site, Kuwait’s Electricity Ministry said while Saudi Arabia’s Defense Ministry said its forces intercepted five ballistic missiles aimed at the kingdom’s Eastern Province.
In the UK, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is set to convene senior government and military officials, including Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves and Governor of the Bank of England Andrew Bailey, alongside energy, shipping, finance and insurance sector leaders to discuss the Middle East war, his office said.
