The Pakistani Foreign Ministry said that the crew members of the MV Touska would be handed over to Iranian authorities on Monday.
The Ministry added that the US-seized ship would also be returned to its original owners after necessary repairs in coordination with Washington and Tehran.
The ministry’s statement, posted on X, read, “As a confidence-building measure by the United States of America, 22 crew members held aboard the seized Iranian container ship, MV Touska, have been evacuated to Pakistan.”
The statement added, “The individuals, who were flown to Pakistan last night, will be handed over to the Iranian authorities today.”
It indicated that the ship would be towed to Pakistani territorial waters, paving the way for its return to its original owners after the necessary repairs are carried out. The Pakistani statement confirmed that coordination is underway with the support of both the Iranian and American sides.
On April 20, US President Donald Trump announced that the US Navy had seized an Iranian cargo ship “MV Touska” after intercepting it in the Gulf of Oman while it was attempting to break the naval blockade. (EIR)
