Iranian parliament member Reza Seddiqi said that a majority of Iranian lawmakers shared a strong intention and consensus to pass a new legal framework to implement a toll for vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Iranian media reports on Thursday, Seddiqi stated, “Smart control of the Strait of Hormuz by the armed forces is one of our country’s important tools of leverage in this conflict.”
He added, “The new legal framework for managing this strait is a matter that will be presented to the parliament’s open session as part of an urgent bill comprising four sections.”
Meanwhile, the Philippines announced that Iran has pledged to allow Philippine oil shipments to pass through the Strait of Hormuz and reach the import-dependent archipelago. (Agencies)
