Iran Seizes Two Ships Trying to Cross Strait of Hormuz

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) seized two container ships (MSC Francesca and Epaminodes) attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz and escorted them to Iranian shores, Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reported Wednesday, citing a statement released by the IRGC.

The IRGC statement said that one of the seized vessels (MSC Francesca) was linked to Israel. The statement added the ships were seized for operating without required authorization, manipulating navigation systems and endangering maritime safety.

It stressed that any disruption to order and safety in the Strait of Hormuz is a red line.
