Khamenei: US Presence in Territorial States a Source of Instability

Eagle Intelligence Reports • April 30, 2026 •

Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei asserted that “the US presence in countries bordering Gulf territorial waters is the primary source of insecurity,” adding that “the future of the region will be without the US presence and in service of the security and well-being of its people.”

In a written statement, Khamenei said, “The US bases in the region are incapable of securing themselves, so how can they guarantee the security of the countries under their control?”

He indicated that “the victory achieved through the strong Iranian strategic resistance will pave the way for a new regional and global order.”

Khamenei stated that “a new chapter is unfolding in the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz,” adding that “the new administration of the Strait will bring peace, progress, and economic benefits to all Gulf states.”

He added that “Tehran shares a common destiny with its Gulf neighbors and will secure the Gulf region and eliminate enemy’s abuses of the waterway.”

Meanwhile, Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf vowed that his country’s control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz would ensure a future without US presence in the area.

“Today, by managing the Strait of Hormuz, Iran will provide itself and its neighbors with the precious blessing of a future free from American presence and interference,” said Ghalibaf in a post on X to mark the national “Persian Gulf” day.

On the other hand, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed that halting provocative American statements and actions is a prerequisite for any confidence-building process.

He said, “Seeking to resolve disputes through dialogue and diplomacy has always been among our priorities,” adding, “America and Israel attacked Iran twice during negotiations, which led to our lack of trust in Washington.”

He indicated that America must demonstrate seriousness in pursuing negotiations to end the war permanently and avoid repeating past experiences. (EIR)
